“Danger Zones: Campus Safety” serves as a pivotal mobile application tailored for college and university students, enabling them to document their safety experiences and perceptions related to both on-campus and off-campus environments. This innovative app leverages Augmented Reality technology to allow users to place a diverse array of descriptive virtual icons onto their real-world surroundings captured through their device's camera. Additionally, students have the option to enhance these visual markers with descriptive text, offering further context to their observations.
The application meticulously records vital information including the location, images, icons, and descriptions, alongside voluntary demographic details. This comprehensive data collection aims to accurately illustrate and analyze students’ insights regarding safety in different areas of their community.
“Danger Zones” is a product of collaboration funded by the Georgia Department of Public Health under a corporate agreement (CDC-RFA-CE19-1902) with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
